About Jenny Whyte
I'm Jenny – a theatre artist, performance designer, and Theatre Design lecturer at MTU Cork School of Music. I design costumes, sets, and props for theatre, dance, opera, and film.
My approach to theatre-making is highly collaborative and design-led, with visual storytelling at the heart of the process. I'm passionate about creating inclusive, visually and sensorially rich work that explores social themes and sparks conversation.
Alongside my performance design work, I’m also a visual artist specialising in scenic painting and textile/costume breakdown. When time allows, I also take on personal portrait commissions.

In 2024, I was selected by the Irish Society of Performance Designers (ISPD) for their Arts Council-funded mentorship programme, working as Assistant Costume Designer to Catherine Fay on GATMAN! (Everyman Theatre). I later re-joined her for MAKING HISTORY (Everyman Theatre, 2025) as Costume Supervisor and Textile/Costume Breakdown Artist.
In 2021, I was Design Assistant on HEART OF A DOG (Everyman Theatre), which was nominated for an
Irish Times Theatre Award for 'Best Costume Design' in 2022.
