Press Quotes
“The play is based somewhere in rural Ireland… in a rather mystical fairy-like setting, a beautifully created set designed by Jenny Whyte, which aids greatly in imbuing the story with a sense of the cross country journey the girl is about to embark on.… the production is very sleek and polished.”
— Tripe + Drisheen, Pádraig O’Connor
“Jenny Whyte has created a set… reminiscent of a Victorian illustration of a fairy tale. At many levels, it brings to mind childhood and times past with all of its nooks and crannies and out-of-scale features…..”
— No More Workhorse, Frank L.
Show Synopsis
Once Off Productions presents ‘The Hare’, originally developed with support from the Abbey Theatre and Cairde Festival.
‘The Hare’ is a new play which explores social isolation and the modern disconnect from both the natural world and our unconscious nature. She’s an odd one; a lonely girl, living out the back of beyond. Unwanted by her community, laughed at by her peers, torn between the civilisation that rejects her and her own wilder nature. But we meet her on a day that’s different – the day that is today – when the arrival of an unexpected letter floods her world with the potential for change.
‘The possibility. Imagine.’
